Featured Interview With Jessica Butler
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in a little town in New Jersey. We had 100 kids in our high school graduating class and I had grades kindergarten through 8th in the same school! I now live in Pennsylvania near where I went to college at which was Kutztown University with my husband, my sassy toddler daughter and my even sassier cat, Barnaby.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My fascination with books started from when my mom would let me take out as many books as I wanted from our local library. I was too young to read but would have her read them to me along with impersonating the character's voices (Grover and Cookie Monster were my fave)! I started writing throughout college but never had any plans to become a fiction writer until this book, Sweet Pear. It was something that poured out of me and it's been an amazingly fun journey.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love Jennifer Weiner, Sophie Kinsella, Sally Thorne, Lisa Jewell and so many more. My favorite genre to read is romance with a little mystery. I also like suspense and rom coms. I'm inspired by all of the amazing people in my life, especially my best girlfriends.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Sweet Pear is a book about a woman Elle whose married to a man named Ryan. One morning, she wakes up to discover that she's lying next to a man who is not him but someone else she knows on an intimate level … her ex boyfriend, Josh. She reaches out to her best friend, Gwen to discover what's going on and if in fact the grass is really greener on the other side or if it's simply artificial.
