TREK ACROSS A CHANGED LAND by Darren Rumbold
This is an epic hard sci-fi adventure novel exploring climate change. Thirty-five years after climate change led to a disastrous geoengineering attempt, economic and governmental collapse and a Blackout War, a plan is in place to restore society. Its success, however, hinges on a weary scientist’s journey across a devastated America collecting data to allow him to predict the weather again. Accompanying him is his grown son, Dan, who must come to terms with his anger toward his father and his grandparent’s generation for screwing it all up. Joining them is Dan’s girlfriend Jennifer, who is grappling with her own issues. Also tagging along is George’s dog, Opie. Their mission and survival will be threatened by hailstorms, rain bombs, wildfires, a Cat-6 hurricane and roving bands of dangerous people.
