New Year, New Number by Dee Ellis
Croix Fiche
Being a nice guy has gotten me nowhere. I let “the one” get away with my former partner. I have given up on love, on friendship—and on ever finding the happiness we’re all seeking. It is a new year so I figure I can start fresh with this new way of thinking. If I won’t get happiness, at least I can have a good time.
When Camrin texts me by mistake, chatting with her is just a good time. Just fun between strangers. It does not have to mean anything…does it?
Camrin Stokes
It stings to be left on read. To be ghosted. I came to Pine Grove after everything started to go wrong. I thought a fresh start in the new year was worth taking the leap. Another wrong number seems par for the course.
Only, Croix does not ghost me or leave me on read—he responds. He listens to my sad stories. He makes me laugh and hope again…but it’s just a wrong number, just a stranger on the end of the line.
Could it be more?
