Featured Interview With Author Linda Loprasert
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am of Chinese background, born and raised in Sydney, Australia. I grew up in south-west Sydney, moved around a bit in my early 20's, and now have re-settled back in south-west Sydney, living with my husband and pet dog.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have been an avid book reader since I could read. I was the ultimate book nerd. As a kid, my mum would take me to the local library to borrow books to read. There was a 10 book limit, and I would always borrow up to the maximum; 10 books every time. During school holidays, the library would have a 'special' on, allowing unlimited books to be borrowed at one time. That was heaven to my ears. I'd scoop up so many books I wouldn't be able to carry them to the counter by myself. Yes, ultimate book nerd!
In addition to my love of reading books, I also loved writing. I entered writing competitions at school, and local writing competitions I saw advertised in the newspaper, and I would also just wrote stories for the fun of it. I really enjoyed writing.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
When I first started reading as a child and young adolescent, I enjoyed action packed fiction novels. Matthew Reily's books were always great. I would pick it up and have trouble putting it down.
Currently, I enjoy reading motivational and inspirational non-fiction books. Authors of note include Darius Foroux, Alison Armstrong, Ali Tansel, Hugh Mackay, Gretchin Rubin, Hal Elrod, Adam Atler, Susan David, Hugh Mackay, Edith Eger, Carol Dweck, and Jay Shetty.
These authors and their books have inspired me to reach above and beyond, to step out of my comfort zone, and to find myself here, a published author.
Reading has got me to where I am today, and if there was anyone to thank for getting me to where I am now; a published author, I would have to thank the authors of all of the motivational books I have read over the years.
