Featured Interview With Author Jansen Schmidt

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a country girl at heart. I was raised in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California and have since relocated to historic Vicksburg, Mississippi where my husband own and operate an 1870's Victorian Inn. We love welcoming people into our home from all over the world and sharing the history this remarkable house, our charming city, and our amazing art collection. We love ocean cruising and trips to Disney World but we miss our 3 feline companions when we're gone.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always been a creative person. I love music, dancing, and playing the piano. For many years I performed on community stages as an actor, singer, dancer, and musician. Several years ago I decided to challenge myself in another creative arena and wrote my very first romance novel, which remains unpublished but may one day see a shelf in a bookstore. As a voracious reader, my love of the written word inspired me to hone my craft so that I could create my own characters in their own worlds and present my stories to the world. Thus began my career as a writer.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
When I got serious about writing as a career, I was encouraged by Brenda Novak, whom I met at a local book signing in my area, to join a writers group, which I did. I have been a fan of romance novels and mysteries since I was introduced to Phyllis Whitney when I was a teen-ager. I gobbled up every book she ever wrote and dug deeper into the romance genre with classic favorites from Victoria Holt and Kathleen Woodiwiss. Besides these amazing women who pioneered the romance genre, some of my favorite romance authors are Brenda Novak, Denise Hunter, and Loucinda McGary. But I also love the mystery and thriller genre, in particular authors CJ Box, Julie Garwood, Karen Robards, and Linda Castillo.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest release, The Ties That Bind, is the first book in a new series of books that delve into human nature and overcoming enormous odds to better their lives. This book is a heart-warming story of love, loss, and acceptance.

Heroine, Shiloh receives an unexpected and unwanted inheritance which forces her to make some hard decisions about her future; a future that may include her handsome love interest, Luke.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Central Italy. I have spent 8 years in the USA and 7 in China and South East Asia.
I am currently enjoying my motherland.
No pets, I love wild animals.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As far as I remember, I always wrote. And I discovered books when I learned how to read.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I span across different topics and subjects, from fiction to Science, Psychology, Business, Comics, and Erotic Literature. I don't like boundaries.
My inspiration is the life I live, in both the physical and the spiritual realms.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Memory Island is a book I first wrote in 2013 in Indonesia. I completed and published it in Italy in 2014 under a different name and with a different structure. The Island haunted my nights until 2020, when I decided to revive it, and expand its original idea.
Well, now that it's published, I can feel it is far from completed. I still visit the Island, and there is much more to tell about it, the Communitron, the Professor.

Featured Interview With Author Michael Owino

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hailing from Copenhagen, Danish author Michael Owino knows about Scandinavian life in the Danish capital. But his travels around the globe, especially in Europe have given him a deep understanding of art, design, and history.

The trilogy’s first two books are already released in Danish, with the first one already being translated into English by many online readers. His second book, The Attack on the Ferris wheel, is soon to be released in English as well, while the third book in the series, is on the way.The author Michael Owino has throughout his life done extensive research about the subjects present in his works. Through his connections and knowledge, he has delivered a vivid picture of everything from the frontlines in World War II to the upper echelons of CEO life in companies. His expertise from everything to crime has made the foundation for his books.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
"I always knew that I was good at writing stories. I had written a lot of lyrics to music, and so on, but I had never written a book. While I had traveled a lot in Germany during my whole life and had some family members there, I was starting to wonder – how on earth could these skillful and friendly people ever have been Nazis. As history obviously always had been my great hobby, I was starting to dive deeper into the question – I wanted to write a book about how it could happen what had turned those people into this disaster."

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My all-time favorite Author is Hillary Mantell.I love her work and I'm very interested in history .
Another author I really enjoy reading is the Swedish author Steig Larsson . Especially his work with the book called The girl with the dragon tattoo .
Likewise, I also like the feminist writer Erica Jong. Her work with the book called Fear of flying is an outstanding contribution to the modern literature

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The Danish investigator Tom Halvorsen had just arrived home, to his newly bought, small but cozy house. placed in one of the prosperous suburbs in the northern part of Copenhagen, tired after a long day of work, finally seated, on his old chesterfield sofa, in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea, about to unwind.
Then the call came from one of his colleagues, telling him – That there had just been a shooting inside Copenhagen, which had left his closest partner Olina deadly wounded. Instinctively he had known that it was some sort of revenge from Gustav Kräsens- The mighty and powerful CEO that runs and own the world’s most prominent Diary firm, and for the last three year has been investigated by MI5 The German and Danish secret police for his role in -KUNST RINGE an illegal art business that operates in the shadows, among wealthy business people all over the world.
-A shooting, they could have avoided. But it happens.
-His partner was deadly wounded.
-a crime investigation that has gone completely wrong
-His honor
-His divorce
While he is driving fast on the icy beach road, on his way to something that is likely to be the second shooting scene, according to the new incoming message, he cannot help thinking – Why am I doing this?
A top businessman and his female partner suddenly move their bloody and illegal art business to India. Interpol and the Danish secret agent Tom Halvorsen get approved 8 days to investigate freely inside India. When the story takes a turn and starts to unfold in India the reader will now see the tale from the point of the villain and through her eyes. Her name is Claire. She is a powerful woman, and for several years she has been in a close love and work relationship with the main villain Gustav Kräsen.
We experience Mumbai from her perspective, and we get an insight into the foreign corruption companies are trying to do in India. – We experience how official India is forced to turn a blind eye to financial crimes done by foreign companies. – What to choose. -money to the state of Mumbai, or go strictly with the law and risk the companies feeling better off elsewhere, and then lose the investments?
The stakes are high in this historical drama. The Danish investigation team is soon learning that many Indian officials are profiting from the legal and illegal activities companies like Kräsen are doing. And it is questioned- if, it's really in anybody's interest to obstruct a high-profile businessman. You will not read many pages before you get sucked into this historical drama.

Featured Interview With Author Mary Elizabeth Fricke

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I'm a country girl who grew up next to a dairy farm. But I didn't realize how little I knew about 'farming' until I married my husband almost 42 years ago. Now, we live five miles south of the Missouri River–I grew up five miles north of the Missouri River–on a farm that has been consecutively operated by my husband's family for five generations. 'Country' is really all I know so that is the basic theme or setting for most of my stories. As for pets…I've had many over the years. Dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. My sidekick Golden Retriever-Shepherd Mix, Sami, died at the age of fourteen years in 2011 and I still have not tried to replace her. There'll never be another Sami. My Badcat of 12 years age died last summer and her last kitten, Fluffy-Butt, disappeared this spring. So, right now we have no pets underfoot. I miss them.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My mother was an avid reader and a published poet. I attribute my initial interest in reading and writing to her influence. Some of my first memories are of Mom reading to me and later encouraging me to read. We were a family of avid readers and Mom was not surprised when I told her I wanted to write stories of my own. She'd been hearing them since before I could write them down!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I tend to read romance or some kind of romantic suspense or action. But, I have a long list of favorite writers. I collect Sandra Brown's books, and Kim Harrison's–best-selling authors who produce very different styles of writing. I'm envious of the talent Erma Bombeck displayed poking fun at herself while also defining life in general. John Bowers would be my favorite futuristic science fiction author but I also read Newt Gingrich's fiction and non-fiction and others such as Dan Brown and James Patterson. 'Ashes in the Wind' by Kathleen Woodiwiss is my, above all, favorite historical novel. I think, in some way, all of these authors have inspired my writing, if for no other reason than to improve my own unique style

Tell us a little about your latest book?
'Wise Bold Eagle' is number five in the Birds in Peril Series. The basis for the story is Sylvia Pentherst's relationship with Thad Hunt. However, Sylvia and Thad are drawn into the drama when Lisa Cromwell-Hunt decides to 'inventory' the contents of her family's historical home before her father sells it. She recruits all of her Hunt and Harvester friends on the same weekend that Sheldon Humsler escapes prison and attempts to bury all evidence against himself. Humsler's need for revenge overrides any common sense thought he may have of just escaping the country. However, Humsler meets his match in Sylvia Pentherst and her Hunt-Harvester 'girls'. For a while, I thought this would be the final book in the series…and while it does sort of end the Humsler issue…sort of…There are other characters stepping forward who insist I tell their stories, beginning with Billy Harris.

Featured Interview With Author Samman Akbarzada

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I'm in my early twenties, raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. But sadly had to flee my motherland for the sake of my life. I'm somewhere far away now, holding onto hope because that's all we have. My pets have been mostly cats, but I see myself having a shitzu puppy, living in my little cabin somewhere by the woods, writing, and writing. That's my dream life.

Writing is my escape from a reality that gets hard to face sometimes. Working on projects such as writing novels and poems has become an indispensable part of my life. It is my weapon to support the silenced.

Through writing, I found a voice I never had, the power I never felt, and the comfort I never experienced before I discovered this passion. Writing has helped me save my life and escape war or in the worst case, death, so for me, it was is, and always will be, life-changing.

While living in the saddest country in the world, enduring and overcoming had to be innate. Writing is my gentle respite, it takes me far away from all that overwhelms me. Puts me in a flow state where I can pour my heart and bleed on ivory pages until it is good again and time to withstand.

Through writing, I want to play my little part and portray how the world should act and accept its responsibilities in building a place where children are not the victims of greedy warlords, where women don’t have to fight to be seen as human beings, where peace would be a reality, not just a shooting star wish. One of my main goals will forever be to use my ability as an opportunity to do the least, but the best I can for all my fellow citizens held hostage and suffering behind closed doors.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I've been passionate about writing since a young age, I was six when I wrote my first poem. My first inspiration came when I used to watch my mother writing, as she woke up late at night with a pen to portray the love and sorrow for her country in poetry and that shaped me; whatever I am, whatever success I may acquire, it will always be because of her. At first, my works were all rainbows and sunshine, but as I got older and tasted a bit of life, I noticed that it has a much more purpose than my pleasure time. Writing is my respite and my weapon to support the silenced. In my early teens I wrote short stories, then movie scripts, and eventually novels. Poems were something I wrote in every phase. After years of work, wondering if that dream is even meant to be, and over five hundred rejection letters, I finally made it.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Khaled Hosseini is probably the one I look up to the most and have been poignantly influenced by. I remember sobbing till the morning after the night I read "A Thousand Splendid Suns"

My favorite authors have mostly passed away since classic literature is my favorite genre. Other than that right now I'm thinking of Paulo Coelho, Margaret Atwood, Elif Shafak, and Haruki Murakami, whom I enjoy the most but I tend to like all kinds of fiction novels honestly speaking, poetry books and books related to psychology in the non-fiction. I love every word by every writer out there, I breathe in your words, so keep writing, please.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My poetry book, "A Glimmer in the Dark"
The poems living inside its pages include pieces from my eighth-grade days in 2016, as I wrote in the classroom that might never see the daylight again. Seated beside the window, scribbling secretly under the desk, as a naive dreamer girl, lost in her own little world, my Afghan dream. And the timeframe ceases in March 2022, as I stared at the glooming window to my left, wondering what just happened to me, to her, to him, to them, to us…But why we had it almost, if it was bound to square one… and how could we stop the untamed train that left us a trainwreck, a reclused wanderer, senseless ruminations, my shrouded motherland, and a million broken dreams.

It's a six-year timeline, a portion of my life that will live on through these pages. I tried to include the ones I thought would fit best. May it make you feel something.
