Featured Interview With Author Veronica Goldspiel
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised on Long Island in New York but I currently live in Alabama. My husband and I do have a tankful of fish currently.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I've always wanted to be a writer since as far back as I can remember. Throughout junior high and high school I was known for writing little essays about whatever issue or topic happened to be on my mind at the time. I would pass them around to my friends to read and they always encouraged me to write more. Most of the time I like to keep my writings a bit humorous because what is life without at least a little chuckle every now and then?
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I tend to read mostly non-fiction these days – self-improvement, biographies, and anything that will help me gain more knowledge about… well, just about anything that grabs my attention. I do love reading authors like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels and Gini Koch's Alien series when I just want to chill out, read, and be entertained. I also like reading James Patterson's books. He always keeps me guessing at the end and I love that.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, 151 Fun Things To Do In Retirement, is aimed at those who are about to retire, are already retired, or those that would like to retire someday… basically everyone. As my husband and I contemplate the possibility of retirement in the near future and started researching it, I soon realized that the big danger for people in retirement is boredom. It can not only cause… well, boredom, but it can also be responsible for health issues and death. I know, positive, right? So, I endeavored to write a series of books filled with ideas of great things to do to counter that boredom, loneliness, and stress that affect us in what should be the best chapter of our life yet. If I can help one person have a better retirement era then I'll feel like I've accomplished my goal. There are three more books coming out in this series with the next one being published next month!
