Featured Interview With Author V.E. Huntley
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I'm a retired film producer who now writes dark, steamy romance.
My childhood fear of Dracula was so intense that I couldn't sleep without the lights on and my mother guarding my bedroom door. Over time, this fear evolved into a lifelong obsession with the dark and twisted world of vampires.
So, after more than two decades in the film and television industry, I ultimately chose to pursue my true passion—writing foul-mouthed anti-heroes with anger management issues and the sweet and resilient, yet equally spirited heroines who know how to tame them.
I grew up in New England before relocating to Southern California, where I lived and worked for almost two decades. I now live outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by the beauty of the high desert.
I don't have any pets at the moment. My best friend and co-writer, Baby Doll, a fluffy, fat, black kitty, recently crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving a paw-shaped hole in my heart.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Stories have always captivated me. I've been reading and writing for as long as I can remember—first filling notebooks, then my laptop, with hundreds of stories, but only recently became a published author.
The idea for my debut series, The BloodStone Legacy, originated during my college years, though other priorities took precedence. It sat on my computer for almost two decades while I pursued a career in film and television.
Losing both my parents within the past five years made me realize how short life is. So, I finally decided to finish what I started all those years ago and pursue my true passion for writing stories, which I hope resonate with readers.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors include Kresley Cole, K.F. Breene, Natasha Knight, Anne Rice, Brenda K. Davies, Carion Cole, Elodie Hart, Sadie Kincaid, and Nicole Fox.
I'm a big fan of dark romance. Dark paranormal romance is my go-to genre, but I also read dark fantasy, mafia, billionaire, and sports romance.
Many of the authors listed above inspire me, but I'd have to say both my favorites are Bram Stoker and Anne Rice. It was Stoker's Dracula that sparked my fascination with vampires and Anne Rice further fueled it with her exploration of the concept of immortality.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
