Featured Interview With Tommy S. W. Wong
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Hong Kong to a father who was a successful businessman. I studied civil engineering in UK, practiced engineering in UK and Hong Kong, and taught civil engineering in Singapore. Yet, I've become a spiritual philosopher. Nowadays, I live spiritually in the midst of modern Singapore. I actively share my spiritual philosophy, which is not religious, in my books and in my talks.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As a young boy, before the internet age, I was always attracted to go to bookshops to browse and buy books, and read them afterwards. When I was in my forties and interested in spirituality, I read many religious as well as spiritual books. It’s the latter set of books that opened the door for me to a new type of spirituality which is not religious.
When I was teaching engineering, I published my first engineering book in 1992. Then, in 2009, I published my first spiritual book.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
"Conversations with God" book series by Neale Donald Walsch really inspired me.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
“Wisdom for Living with New Spirituality” with the subtitle “How to Become a Better Soul” is my latest book. I was inspired to write this book because I note that humans having lived with the old spirituality (religion) for thousands of years, and yet, there is no peace on Earth. This book explores the problems with the old spirituality, and offers a new spirituality that can bring peace to Earth.
