Featured Interview With Author Tom McAuliffe
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Tom Patrick McAuliffe is a Author living on Florida’s Emerald Coast with his wife Sharon and cat Gigi. He is a former Photojournalist with the US Navy’s Combat Camera Group and a graduate of the DOD’s Mass Communications program at Syracuse University. He is also a former magazine Editor and Writer with more than 25 years of by-lines. He’s a musician, scuba diver and Fisherman. He has published 12 books in the past five years. At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started keeping journal when I was 12. I did some writing and junior high school and high school on the school newspapers. Later, I enlisted in the US Navy as a Photojournalist and was stationed with combat camera group.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
As I get older I find that I am expanding and trying out new genres. My newest fave is true crime books, SciFi and books about WWII. Additionally, I have also embraced both e-books and audiobooks.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Being from Detroit, I’ve always been a big fan of racing. I attended my first stock car race when I was 15 and later when I was stationed in the Panama City Florida, I had an opportunity to go to many of the small southern dirt tracks and asphalt oval race tracks throughout the Southland. Some of them are still there and when you go there just like a time capsule when you were stepping back in time, these race tracks are not places where cars race. They are more like community centers where whole families come every week to cheer on their favorite race team and to enjoy each other’s company. Thunder Road – Goodyear, God and Gatorade follows the fictitious Harris race team over the course of a 20 year career…
