Featured Interview With Author Roza Bonnard
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in Seattle where I went to college and lived in a small apartment with my parents until we moved into a bigger place when I was 10. A few years later, my parents got divorced and my father moved to England. Shortly afterwards, I followed him there and nowadays I live in Solihull in a small house with my husband and our dog.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
From an early age I always loved books, especially the works of Marie Corelli, Susan Sontag and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, but it wasn't until I read Joan Didion that I decided to start writing. At first I only wrote journal notes, and it wasn't until I moved to England that I decided to write my first novella.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I absolutely love Donna Tartt, Bret Easton Ellis, Anais Nin, and Joan Didion. I can read almost anything apart from fantasy novels and science-fiction. Writers like Joan Didion and Anais Nin are the reason why I started to write.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My novella "The Journal of a bisexual poet" was partially inspired in some events of my past, when I was a crazy young woman. It tells the story of a bisexual poet who is trying to forget a past lover and gets involved with another woman at her workplace. It's a book that contains strong sexual content, and I don't think that I will ever write another book like that.
