Featured Interview With Author Rosie Miles
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hi, my name is Rosie Miles. I was born in bred in Glasgow, Scotland. After the death of my mother, my dad brought me to Australia, kicking and screaming, to start our new lives. Now, there is nowhere else I'd call home. I am married to my forever man, and have been for many years, we have three grown children, and a posse of grandkids and great grandkids. We were married young and lived our lives in reverse, you know, kids, mortgage all that stuff. Now we're travelling, overseas is out, but thank heavens we managed our trip to the UK, Italy, Singapore, before Covid hit. Australia is a huge, diverse country and we have lots of exploring to do.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I really loved to read from when I was young. I liked the Famous Five, Secret Seven books when I was in primary school. High school, Shakespeare, Jane Austen. After school, Romance Novels, murder stories It wasn't until I read my first Romantic Suspense Novel that I got hooked on writing. I remember when I won my first prize in a competition. It was a bottle of Chloe perfume; it could have been a thousand dollars. They mentioned in the letter, although I didn't win, I showed great promise.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Karen Rose, is one of my favorite authors. I also enjoy reading, Sandra Brown, JD Robb, Vince Flynn, Mathew Rilley, Anne Stuart, Natasha Lester, Kate Morton, Christine Wells, Jane Harper. I also enjoy reading M&B Australian authors. Annie West, Kelly Hunter, Amy Andrews. I enjoy picking up a book from a table, not knowing about the author, going home and reading it. Whether it be a great book or not so great, someone put their heart and soul into writing it, so someone should read it.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My book, due out 17th June, this year is Titled. Her Aussie Protector. Mitch and Asher are my main characters, and I love them both. He is an injured Australian Defense Force Investigator, Asher, well, she's a doctor, who has turned her back on a lucrative career and spent her inheritance on revamping an old ambulance, taking health care to the community to those too afraid to venture into an office. It took almost a year for her to gain the trust of the menagerie of homeless and helpless she serves. But lately, there’s been a sinister feel to the streets she uses as her clinic.
Injured Australian Defense Force Investigator, Mitchell Buchanan, is seconded to the Sentinel Bureau. On the surface, the agency helps returned soldiers transition back into society. Their actual mission is to pursue soldiers who’ve crossed the line. His assignment to locate a suspected member of a deadly smuggling gang finds him cozying up to the guy’s sister.
When violence around Asher ramps up and she's attacked, Mitch becomes her protector while still pursuing his objective. Their growing respect and attraction for one another are muddying the waters. So are the secrets he keeps. Someone is hellbent on getting to her, and if they don’t find the answers soon, they may not survive the fallout.
And it’s looking more and more like that person is closer to home than they feared… I enjoyed creating this story or trying to. These two characters had their own points of view, and wanted it told their way. Honestly, characters, I wish they'd just let me write them.
