Featured Interview With Author Rochelle Brandon
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
As an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Charlotte, NC, I dedicated my career to supporting women through all stages of life. From adolescence to childbirth, menopause, and beyond, my focus has always been on providing compassionate, personalized care. After many fulfilling years in practice, I am now transitioning into a new phase. Following my mother’s long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and her recent passing, along with my father’s declining health, I made the decision to retire. This change marks the beginning of exciting new endeavors. In this next chapter, I am channeling my energy into writing, publishing, and blogging. These pursuits allow me to continue sharing my insights and experiences, offering support and inspiration to others in meaningful ways.
I’m new to writing and publishing, but I absolutely love it!
I have two cats. Nahado, my back tom cat, likes to walk on my key board if he is not getting enough attention and my sweet girl, Aria likes to look over my shoulder while I type and proof read, LOL. I have a 15 year old chocolate runt Beagle, Nala, who is a dignified elderly lady who likes her regal walks through the neighborhood. I have a blessed life.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I suffer from abibliophobia, the fear of not having anything to read. I grew up with my head in a book. Mama said I must be reading the print off the page. I was an adult when I first thought about actually writing a book. I lacked proper training in writing fiction and had little time to pursue it as a hobby. However, I actually did a lot of writing and documentation as a physician. And it finally hit me that nonfiction writing comes naturally to me. It is just like documenting a conversation with a patient in the chart. Non fiction is what I do, teaching and informing people though writing.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Octavia Butler, NK Jemisin, Toni Morrison and Percival Everette are my current favorite authors. I love fantasy and science fiction but will read anything if it is well written. I also have no problem abandoning books that fail to keep my interest. Lol, I’m getting older, my time and eye sight are precious. I am inspired by my patients, women who are the unsung sheroes of their families and communities. They are powerful people who also have real life struggles. My goal is to make their struggles a little easier and prepared young women for their future.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Through biblically-based strategies, inspiring teachings, and real-life examples, Warriors of the Word: Harnessing the Power of Intercessory Prayer equips the reader to engage in effective spiritual warfare, interceding for others with confidence and spiritual authority. Readers discover how to harness the full power of intercessory prayer, transforming it into a force that changes lives, heals relationships, and brings about divine intervention in every situation. I believe that we are called to pray for each other and our prayer changes things. I have some personal examples in the book. My goal is to educate people about intercessory prayer and encourage them to begin a prayer practice. There is too much work to be done. Evil doesn’t even bother to disguise itself anymore. The world needs prayer warriors.
