Featured Interview With Author Nicki Pascarella
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
With the help of two hyperactive Shetland sheepdogs, I write Women's Fiction, Sexy Mysteries, Humor, and Romance for The Wild Rose Press. I also coach writers and edit for the MediaCasters. I live in Pennsylvania with my husband and teenage daughter. When I'm not writing and editing, you will find me teaching high school and running. I'm also an award-winning choreographer and belly dancer.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Sitting on the front porch reading with my grandparents is one of my fondest memories. At night I would curl up in bed and my mother would read to me. By the time I was four, I was reading to her. In fifth grade, I wrote my first short story. My teacher allowed me to stand up in front of the class and read it. My classmates applauded. I have no idea if it was because they liked it, or I was finished. But, after that, I had a weekly time slot where I read my stories to my teachers and classmates. I did not publish my first novel until I was fifty-three.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read all genres. Some of my favorite books include A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, Misery by Stephen King, Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, and Of Human Bondage by Somerset Maugham. My writing inspiration is Janet Evanovich. One For the Money is brilliant! Although I cross genres with my writing, my favorite thing to write is romantic comedy.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I am a traditionally published author releasing my first self-published book on October 4th, 2022. I chose to self-publish this book to celebrate the day I retire from twenty-nine years as a high school teacher. It is the edgiest thing I have written, and I think the book I am most in love with. I took risks that I hope my readers embrace. Here is a bit about it: Best-selling romance author Jenna Gibson hasn't written a word in months, and supermodel Hunter Stone has to make some tough decisions if he wants to remain on the A list. Good thing their devoted fan, Arkansas Buchanan, knows how to save them both. If only they'd respond to the thousands of messages she's sent them. Unfortunately, if they continue to ignore her, things might become deadly.
