Featured Interview With Author Lynn Campbell
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am an elementary teacher in Phoenix, Arizona where I was born and raised. When I am not writing, I am doing jigsaw puzzles or spending time with my husband and adult son. Our two African grey parrots round out our family. My husband and I love to fly in our 4-seat Beech Debonair. Two of our favorite destinations are Payson, Arizona and San Diego, California.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always loved to read and I'm definitely a bibliophile. I can think about and play with words all day long. In addition, I don't remember a time when I wasn't creating characters or storylines in my head. I hand wrote random chapters of a story from the ages of sixteen to nineteen but didn't start writing my first novel until age twenty-nine.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Some of my favorite authors include David Morrell, Jennifer Lynn Cary, and RA Douthitt. I recently discovered Emma Scott who is a master of character development and plot progression. I love a good suspense thriller, and I am now delving into romance which I'm truly enjoying. I am inspired by and learning from everything and everyone I read.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My first/latest book started from a dream that I couldn't get out of my head. I played with the events of the dream and built around, and Revenge Game was born. I loved every minute of creating my strong female main character and vicious villain as well as ratcheting up the suspense to the final confrontation. Revenge Game has been praised not only for its suspense, but for having multiple viewpoints, and an unlikely partnership.
It took two years to write then another two years to have it professionally critiqued, edited, and revised. At that time, self-publishing was in its infancy and life happened. After shelving Revenge Game for many years, the climate has changed. I put the novel through another set of revisions and edits, then decided to self-publish.
