Featured Interview With Author Lucas Alves
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in Houston, Texas. I studied film, theater and acting in San Francisco, CA, where I appeared in several productions. Aside from my passion for writing, I’m a voracious reader and love to travel the world with my family. I currently lives in Maryland with his wife daughter and rescue collie-mix Poppy.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was in mid-elementary school when I became obsessed with reading. I always enjoyed detective stories and classics (Conan Doyle, Verne, etc.). I always wrote for as long as I can remember but nothing lengthy. I got serious about writing in college with screenplays and stage scripts. I turned to narrative writing a few years back (a little before COVID).
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Cormac McCarthy, Stephen King, Hemingway, Faulkner, Dostoevsky, Melville, Conrad. My favorite genre tends to be literary fiction, classics based. I am fascinated by simplicity of minimalistic punctuation to enhance readability through simple, beautiful writing. Cormac McCarthy and early Faulkner and Joyce taught me this.
