Featured Interview With Lewena L Bayer
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
The prairies, specifically Saskatchewan, Canada will always feel like home for me. I think maybe the wide-open spaces encouraged my big thinking and creativity. Have always loved animals and sadly lost both beloved family dog Cooper and favorite feline Whiskers earlier this year.
My all day every day is tied to civility but when I have free time, I love to travel and art is my secret obsession.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My love of books started when I was about 10. My parents gifted me a boxed set of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie. I must have read each of those books easily 40 times. I have always been a reader but only started writing for work in 1999- mostly out of necessity, creating curriculum for my business. Soon, however, I fell in love with research and learning and then synthesizing and reworking/interpreting what I learned.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I don't really read nonfiction much but if I do, I would choose Henry David Thoreau, and I also love Mary Oliver. Typically, I read nonfiction, research, whitepapers, and experts in the social competence and cultural intelligence field.
I am inspired by new ways of seeing old things/ideas and I am always excited to learn something new.
NOTE: Mickey Mickelson is my agent.
