Featured Interview With K French
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Sheffield, England. I have lived in Dublin, Ireland and also in Perth, Australia. I now live in Harpenden, not too far from London. So as you can see I like to travel and try out new places. although I am yet to visit the US.
I have two children, one dog and four cats.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
The first story I ever wrote was in Primary school. It was all about Elizabeth I because I loved history and still do. I loved stories and type. As a child, I loved listening to family stories told by my great grandmother. Seeing books on my shelves made me happy. I loved books so much that I studied English Literature at University.
Growing up I would dream of becoming an author but there never seemed a right time to write. Also, I just didn't think it would be possible.
After having my children, I was a stay at home mum for a while, it was during this time that I wrote my first book and I am still writing.
I would love someday for my work to appear in a bookstore or a library.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I don't have a favourite author. I love the Classics and I always tend to pick up a romance novel first, but that doesn't mean to the exclusion of everything else. I like a good story, one where you feel you want to get to know the characters. The kind of stories that make you laugh and cry.
However, I am a realist so that doesn't mean I only read stories with happy endings.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
The book I am writing at the moment is a historical romance set in Sheffield in 1939. It is based loosely on real family events. I think this is my favourite one so far.
