Featured Interview With Author Jennifer Haskin
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Missouri, moved to Kansas, then Montana, then Colorado, then back to Missouri, and now I live in Kansas again. We have one pet, a chinchilla named Saph. I am a coffee and tea lover, but drink ice-water all day. I drive a little blue Fiat that my friends affectionately call the little blue race car. I struggle with chronic pain, so I'm stuck sitting in my chair all day, so writing time comes naturally.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
When I was six years old, I read Island of the Blue Dolphins and fell in love with fiction. The writing followed as my imagination grew. I did all the obligatory dark poetry writing for high school publications and magazines, then put it down for many years. I came back to it in 2013, approximately.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genres to both read and write are YA fantasy, scifi, and romance. Sarah J Maas inspired my first published novel with her Throne of Glass. I also fall back on Susan Ee's Angelfall, and Sanctum by Sarah Fine.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is The Selection meets the Hunger Games in space. Inside the dwarf planet Haumea, Marishel had her life planned out … until the lottery announcement. In one month, she must battle fifty-nine other girls for the title of Ambassador’s Bride. She doesn’t really want to win, and cannot fight at all, but the only other option is death. There is only one winner of the Blood Match. Now, she has only one month of training to learn to win or find another way to survive. Check it out!
