Featured Interview With Author Devrie P. Spaulding
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hi! All my life, I have loved reading. I chose to be an aircraft mechanic instead. Go figure. I do dabble in a lot of writing. My website (searchable by my name) has all my short stories, poems, and much more. I still live and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. I traveled all over Texas with the aircraft industry but always came back home. My oldest daughter lives in Missouri making the life she has always wanted. My other two daughters still live with me and our many cats and dogs. I really am the crazy cat lady but just know they live a very happy, healthy, and fat life.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
We had a run-down mall close to home. Inside was a Winn's and a family-owned book store. That probably ages me. I bought my very first copy of The Hobbit and have been hooked on reading ever since. I always loved writing poetry but it wasn't until my sister asked why I hadn't written a book for my brain to catch up and get on board with the idea. That is when I wrote my first fantasy book I have yet to publish. The paranormal one won the fight to be first.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Wow, there are so many. Of course, Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Michael Anderle, and Steven King. I have also found a love for self-published authors such as Auburn Tempest, M.M. Crumley, John Corwin, and Bilinda Sheehan. Now, with those mentioned, the humor and fun I found in Rick Riordan's books really inspired me the most. He is a hoot. I don't think I have a main favorite genre but paranormal, fantasy and anything having to do with the Eldritch Terrors are on the top of the list.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My published book is centered around two sisters who find out monsters and those that hunt them are real. It is a battle of whether or not they want to run or fight. If they stay, they may find out more about themselves than they wanted to.
