Featured Interview With Chimauchem Destiny Okpalaeke
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Gboko, Benue state, in the family of Late Mr. Raymond and Mrs. Mary Okpalaeke, heading from Nkpologwu Town in Aguata, Anambra State, who were then living in Gboko, Benue state where they set up their business. during 1991 we ran back to the east due to fight that broke out between the Muslims and Christians. Due to that effect I refused to go back after everything is calm and settled. I grew up with my grand ma. I attended Community Primary School Nkpologwu and did part of my Secondary School in Community Secondary School in the same town and completed it in Holy Cross Secondary School, Aba, Abia State. During my teen I was hard working. I went further and learn music Instrument and become a professional on it. I play bongo and Keyboard/Piano and as well, a solo artiste. I was not loved by anybody in the family and no one show interest to response me in my academic. struggle and enter into the university, Pacific Western University, Denver, in their distance learning center at Mgbidi, Oru East Imo where i obtained my BSc. in Computer Engineering with all I have. and with the help of my cousin brother who saw what I was passing true during my fourth year and rendered help to me. After mine education I went into Real Estate.
I started inventing stories and telling my love ones in my teen stage. As I grew up I started seeing so many books in the market place. I started putting all mine stories in a book and started Publishing them on line.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
At my 14th, I realized that I am a great story teller. I started inventing stories and writing it down.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Shakespears, Chino Achabe, Wole Shoniynka, Chimanda Adiche and rest others.
