Featured Interview With Brigitta Moon
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Storytelling is what I do. No matter how long it takes, I will spend the time to weave a story that will hook you in the beginning and twist you at the end.
I am a native Marylander born April 5th. That makes me an Aries. I have been an avid reader of a variety of genres since high school. After high school, I went on to a Baltimore community college where I studied nursing, but I did not stop there. I went on to continue my studies in nursing and business at The College of Notre Dame of Maryland where I obtained my BSN. Working many hours on the night shift presented many opportunities for delving into a drama, a thriller, or a saga. Now with a cup of tea or maybe even a wine cooler, I find curling up with a good read is a relaxing way to spend a cold winter evening, a brisk spring day, or even a warm summer morning. Reading is a source of entertainment for me; a way to get away from a drab or stressful day. Reading presents a way for me to indulge myself in a story that may take me to another land or a funny or thrilling situation or even a romance I have secretly coveted.
The reason I write is to entertain and sweep readers off to a romance, drama, or saga typed on the pages between the covers of a book when they need it most. Television isn’t always entertaining, especially late at night when reruns are playing for the 100th time and commercials seem to be the main event. That’s how my writing career began. Tired of the show on the television which I had seen for the umpteenth time, I decided to put pen to paper and write my own version of a story. This was the beginning of my writing adventure.
I don’t have any pets now. I lost my little kitty, Angel, to a saddle thrombus. It took some time to get used to her not being around. She visited in my dreams for a while. Many times I thought I saw her run across the room, but I know it was just wishful imagining because I had her for so many years. She was family.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My fascination with books started in high school with the many reading assignments like The Scarlet Letter. The assignment was to discover the meaning of the letter. From there I began to discover all kinds of stories. The earliest series I remember reading is Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. I read them all. I loved her writing. I bought the first book in the new series and found the writing to be different. Right away I knew V.C. Andrews had not written the story. I went on a hunt to find out why her writings had changed. I was saddened when I learned she had passed away. Because I enjoyed her writings so much, I credit her with my love of books.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Oh my goodness, where to start. My favorite series is by Michael Connelly. I absolutely love Bosch. I enjoyed Mickey Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer series also. I kept waiting for more additions to the series, but none came. Another series I enjoyed was by James Patterson, Alex Cross. I have also read through the D.D. Warren series by Lisa Gardner. She keeps me on the edge of my seat. These three authors are the ones who inspired me the most to write my stories.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is actually a series of books. They are all short stories. I decided to write The Dawn Knight Series for readers who like to read while eating lunch or on a break, knowing they can gobble the story quickly. This series starts out with a young woman wanting to improve her financial situation. She accepts a job which lands her face to face with a serial killer, Ian Little.
I have also added novels to The Marston Series. The latest novel is entitled The Confession. Secrets in church lead to members being hunted and murdered. The Marston detectives have their hands full with this one.
