Featured Interview With Allistar Banks
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Allistar Banks was born and raised in McCormick, South Carolina. She still resides in McCormick, SC. She has a terrier mix named Sylvia. Ms. Banks is a graduate of Lander University in Greenwood, SC, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications in 2013. The Author has been featured in the Index-Journal, The Press and Banner, McCormick Messenger, and in Lander University’s magazine for her books. Ms. Banks has been featured on various print and online media, as well. Besides spending time writing, she enjoys hiking, reading, hearing local southern rock bands play, seeing local plays, Pilates, bowling, movies, and hanging out with friends and family.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I had a fascination with books from the early age of six. A couple of years later, I dove more into writing my first picture book called The Sorcerer and the Magic Pond where a Sorcerer learned to use his powers for good and not for evil.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love to read James Patterson, Dorothea Benton Frank, Meg Cabot, and Nicolas Sparks. I love to read family drama. My journalism teacher from high school inspires me to write.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
A Colorful Balloon Ride takes place when Mary and Emily go on a hot balloon ride around the County Fair with the County Fair’s event worker Mr. John who specializes in teaching colors and associating colors with carnival treats and nature. I’m Mary in the story and Emily portrays my best friend Emily from elementary school. Mr. John portrays my art teacher Mr. Smith. Read and explore the colors of the rainbow told through carnival treats and nature!
