Matthew Alan grew up in Canton, Ohio and eventually headed to Kenyon College where he filled his college years with great friends, family and swimming. After graduating from Kenyon, and earning a masters degree from Western Illinois, he began a career in teaching and coaching at the university level. During that time, he started writing short stories and novels, upon realizing the impact reading novels has had in his own life. Most of his books focus on strong character development, internal struggles and real life events – with a hint of the surreal thrown in for good measure. He published his first novel “One Degree” in May of 2013 with great critical reviews and followed up with a successful short story, “The Hero” that same year. Matthew currently lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
