Featured Interview With Grandma Krazy
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Grandma Krazy is my pen name. It is what my grandchildren call me. My actual name is Kathy Barnett Blomquist. I have FIVE cats so sometimes I am referred to as the cat lady as well. I have lived all over the United States and currently live in Southern California. I have always loved working with children.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have loved children's books for as long as I can remember. In working with young children for the last 40years, I frequently found myself writing stories and skits to fit what was being taught. I wrote and published my first book only about a year ago.
My teaching philosophy is to make things so much fun for the kids they don't realize they are learning something.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I always head straight to the children's books. They are my favorite. But when I want adult reading I like clean mystery or fun uplifting stories.. Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I wanted something that would utilize a child's own imagination instead of a screen providing it. So I wrote If I Could…
It is a fun interactive story that encourages children to use their own imagination while increasing their vocabulary. If they could create a world of their very own, what would it be like? Would school be held in a pool? Would horses be blue? What if honey was made by chimpanzees instead of stinging bees? Would you still take showers? Gather your art supplies as blank pages are waiting for young readers to use their creativity by drawing their very own world creations.
