Featured Interview With C.M. Albert
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hey! Thanks for having me. I write steamy contemporary romance as CM Albert, but my friends call me Colleen! (That’s you, by the way!) I was born in upstate NY but have since migrated down south via Virginia and then permanently put my roots down in NC. I love being surrounded by trees and water, so we finally found our dream forever home on a lake here in Charlotte. My husband and I wrangle two kids, our cockapoo, Beau, our three cats (Patty, Sarah, Leo), and my son’s bearded dragon, Waffles. My favorite part about where we live is the “adopted” family of deer that total over twenty and graze from our front yard and sometimes sleep there, too!
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As my mom likes to tell it, I was reading a Ms. Magazine by the time I was four! So reading came quickly and naturally to me, and it didn’t take writing long to follow. I started with journals, short stories, a family newsletter, letters, and some really (and I mean REALLY) bad poetry. But, it was an outlet I needed as I nurtured and explored my creative expression. My love of writing turned into Corporate Communications writing for close to fifteen years before becoming a stay-at-home mom, and a professional book editor. But it didn’t take long for me to figure out that I needed to focus on my writing to be happiest. I haven’t looked back since!
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genres are YA dystopian, YA romance, and contemporary romance–though I read some cozy mysteries, paranormal romance, a little fantasy, women’s fiction, and romantic comedies, too. My *very* favorite authors to read these days are: Colleen Hoover, Skye Warren, and LJ Shen–but that’s because I’ve been on more of a romance kick lately. I also just reread the Divergent series with my son, The 100, and the Pure trilogy.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Visions of Love came to me because I haven’t seen many female main characters in contemporary romance who are psychic mediums. (Not to freak people out, but I am as well.) I also wanted to write an age-gap romance using the characters from my Arden’s Glen Romance series, so Visions of Love was born. It’s a stand-alone romance where the older, more established sexy surgeon in the small town of Arden’s Glen falls head-over-heels for this younger woman, Rosalie Alexander, who happens to be a psychic medium. Beyond just the amazing chemistry and adorkable pick-up lines Dr. Zade Zampogna finds himself using on Rosalie, the story goes much deeper than that because she hasn’t always had an easy go at life with her special “skills.” It’s not only about Rosalie learning to open up and trust in love, but in finding her place in the world and learning to love the place she once wanted to run from most of all.
