When Maryn loses her baby, husband, and home, becoming a wet-nurse seems like her best opportunity for a new life, especially when she qualifies for a position with the royal family. But nursing an infant prince exposes her to dangers she never imagined. Caught in the middle of a bloody struggle for the throne, Maryn will need all her wits and courage to survive. Both her enemies and allies consider her a helpless pawn. But if she can master the dangerous magic of blood and milk she’ll have a chance to defy those who will do anything to seize power—even threaten the child she’s coming to love as her own.

I live in Houston, Texas, with my husband of twenty-four years. I have three children: one in high school, one in college, and one grown, married, and out on her own. I spend a lot of time in Starbucks, drinking vanilla lattes and flat whites and telling stories about my imaginary friends. I’m a volunteer breastfeeding counselor, and I enjoy dabbling in many hobbies, including spinning, knitting, weaving, costuming, hot air ballooning, singing in my church choir, and performing in amateur musicals.
