Featured Interview With Tony Levy
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a 66 year-old Tottenham born family man and former prison officer. I am married to my best friend and soul mate and we are coing up to our silver wedding anniversay later this year.
In 2008 and after 25 years working for HMPrisons I took my pension pot and ran, moving to Spain to spend my early retirement in the sun. I then wrote my first book an autobiography A Turnkey or Not? It is about my prison service life where I worked for 25 years.
My wife and I, however, temporarily moved back to the UK due to the economic climate, at the time. And I returned to working life. at Heathrow Airport in the security screening area.
I wrote my second book which is currently available on Amazon its called El Dorado? No! Heathrow Airport and is an insiders reveal of how we all behave when confronted by Airport Security
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always loved literature but I won a writing competition in a local newspaper when I was 13 which started my real interest, winning another writing competition in 1991 which gave me an entry into the London Marathon which I completed in 3hrs 22 mins when I was forty but only wrote my first book in 2011 and now my second book in 2017, this has now led to a third and fourth book which should be out sometime this year
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite author is Sir Winston Churchill and his book ‘The history of the English speaking peoples’ heavy going but brilliant
I dont have a favorite genre as I am always willing to keep an open mind for all book, I like Lee Childs and his series of Reacher, Leon Uris to JK Rowlands.
People inspire my writing, I observe and experience their behaviour and put it into my words as I find people are so fascinating
Tell us a little about your latest book?
In El Dorado? No! Heathrow Airport I reveal the shocking truth of life inside one of Britain’s busiest airports. I expose the pressures faced by its 76,000+ staff, the traits of pampered celebrities as they pass through the terminals, and the weird, wonderful, and sometimes shocking behaviour of other passengers. I deliver this in a unique portrayal in a sometimes comedic manner, and it was this humour that relieved the intensity of life inside Heathrow’s bustling terminals. You would not believe some of the actions of your fellow travellers whilst confronted by airport security screening.
I always regarded it as my job to expose only the truth to my ever-increasing audience of readers.
I can tell many a tale about celebrity showdowns, but try to only expose the more unacceptable behaviour to show the reader just what insults security staff have to endure all because we are employed to ensure you and everybody else in the airport and aircraft can safely go about your business.
