2082 will see the day a child is born in the Virtual Reality Cloud – free from a mother’s womb, inside its very own symbiotic pod that connects the infant to the Cloud, and to its parents. Getting by outside the Hive, in the real world, like Parker Candlefish wants to, isn’t as bad as the United Autonomous Network (UAN) makes it out to be, but jobs aren’t easy to come by. Work in a Hive is available, it only requires that your body is in a pod, the mind can enjoy any part of the immense virtual playground that is the Cloud.
Alceon Fudore, powerful, distinguished and sexy, is the UAN’s most outspoken member. She will stop at nothing to see a child born in the Virtual Reality Cloud. The problem is, several of Earth’s inhabitants think it must be stopped, and are willing to die for the cause.

Nicholas John Plastino (1985) grew up on Whidbey Island, WA, and moved to Seattle where he graduated from the University of Washington. He called Seattle home throughout his early twenties, bouncing from apartment to apartment, and from job to job during college. He spent the Summer of ’06 studying in Athens, Greece and the Fall of ’07 studying aboard the MV Explorer, which circumnavigated the globe. After college, Nick moved around and lived for various periods of time in Sun Valley, Spokane, Seattle and Deadhorse across the North Western states of Washington, Idaho and Alaska before setting in Sandpoint, Idaho, where he now calls home. Writing is a hobby for Nick and he supports himself through a small business consulting firm. He is currently working on a compilation of short-fiction stories in the Dawn of Modern Man Universe, called The Cloud Serials.
